Hardware.Info attended BlackBerry Live 2013 in Orlando last week. Traditionally announced new products and services here. We do report them here. Blackberry announced not only a new, lower positioned smartphones running on BlackBerry 10 OS, but also did in other areas interesting announcements.
There were quite a few things leaked about the new, cheaper smartphone BlackBerry was going to launch, but now it’s official: the Q5 now officially belongs to the portfolio of BlackBerry. So he does not get the designation R10 and could be used as a half Q10, a hands-on which we published some time ago.
somewhat considered disrespectfulCompared with the ‘bigger’ brother, the Q5 looks less refined. Furthermore, the SoC just a little different. It is still one of Qualcomm with two Krait-cores, but which are clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1.5 GHz, instead of, as is the case with the top models. Furthermore, the camera resolution reduced from 8 to 5 MP and has standard 8 instead of 16 GB storage capacity. However, the most striking difference with the Q10 is the screen. Where a copy at the Q10 is the Super AMOLED type, does the Q5 with an IPS panel. The diagonal and resolution are the same.
In the short time that we have in our hands it stood, the Q5 we have not really been able to convince. The keys feel nowhere near as nice as that of the Q10 and the camera is not particularly good. Whether this is a really interesting device is for those who love a physical keyboard, of course, will in large part depend on the price. Which is not yet known at this time. He comes in ‘selected markets’ (or at least in Europe) and will be available from early July.
Below you can see the specifications of the BlackBerry Q5 and some pictures. The device will be available in black, white, red and pink. The pink variant were at this time, however, no copies available. Hence that is not listed.
