10 Appwinkels BlackBerry, Windows Phone 8 poorly stocked with top - ZDNet.nl

Summary: Researcher Canalys keep a tally of the 200 most popular apps from Apple iOS and Google Android competitors and notes that Windows Phone 8 and BlackBerry 10 only a fraction of these toppers have.

the latest Canalys App Interrogator, a study of the composition of mobile appwinkels, the research that developers of popular apps are still reluctant to spend.

their apps to new platforms concludes

Canalys watched the first three weeks of this month to both the 50 most popular free and paid apps from Google Play (Android) and Apple App Store (iOS) and looked at how many of these 200 toppers are available in Windows Store (Windows Phone 8) and BlackBerry App World (BlackBerry 10).

harvest appears quite skinny, with neither ever platforms over half of the available paying or free apps terminates in Android or iOS. Windows Phone 8 Although scores better than BlackBerry 10, but has also had a longer lead time.

So

Windows Phone 8 contains a total of 14 of the most popular paid apps for iOS, while only 13 copies of the most popular paying Google Play apps can be found in WP8.
BlackBerry 10 counts in turn 9 back the most popular paid iOS apps and apps that are paying 11 at Google Play in the top fifty.

More free toppers for Windows Phone
When it comes to free apps, Windows Phone scores better. Of the 100 most popular free apps on Android (22) and iOS (16) there are 38 copies in Microsoft appwinkel find. Blackberry scored just worse here: it can only count on 16 free apps that are in Google (11) and Apple (5) in the top fifty

.

Canalys keep in mind that some iOS or Android apps, such FindmyiPhone, exclusive to a particular operating system are intended. It also says that some popular apps in similar form on BB10 or WP8 be found. But that is not enough to leave behind a positive image concludes the researcher.

compliment for BlackBerry, scolded for Microsoft The research praises BlackBerry for the fact that in a few months time appwinkel has to grow from 70,000 to 120,000 apps. Canalys also says that Microsoft has a “reasonable job” has done, but it has not had the flying start that BlackBerry has shown.

“These statistics support the amount of work that both Microsoft and BlackBerry are about to suffer in their effort to the ecosystem of apps to build,” said analyst Tim Shepherd
And adds. “Customers of Windows Phone and want for their choice of smartphone simply no apps, features of apps, games or miss present at major or local brands. “

Self thinks the company that with a BlackBerry 10 OS is an excellent base to participate. Ahead ten years It is expected that BlackBerry 10 is as successful as ecosystem, the BlackBerry will make.

about five to ten years one of the main players in the market

It must be said, the company has a BlackBerry 10 OS put down that is not inferior to other OSes on the market. In some areas let the other operating systems even clearly behind him. The focus that the company seems to be more and more emphasis on the integration of as many different environments in a single BlackBerry ecosystem, ensures that there is certainly a lot of potential for its success. What BlackBerry wants to do, witness the things we have seen this week is the BlackBerry smartphone make it interesting again by a lot of conditions around it to create. Then the popularity of the phone itself up. At least, that’s the theory. The practice is often something more unmanageable.

offering BBM on other platforms and the ability to manage with BES with BlackBerry 10, Android and iOS smartphones BlackBerry 10 also gives a different signal, namely that it does not really believe in a strong position for company when it comes to the proportion smartphones in the market. In itself, these other steps to reason well and certainly beneficial to the consumer and business markets, but it is not always clear what BlackBerry is actually wants to achieve.

All in all we have

to BlackBerry received mixed signals this week. It is in any case clear that the company wants to sail a different course. This rate should ensure that BlackBerry is a continuous upward trend show. Whether that will happen is difficult to predict. It has to do, both in terms of market share, but also when it comes to very much the grounds well hearts and minds of the end users of their products and services. We will continue to follow.

BlackBerry Messenger for Android and iPhone - PC

popular BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) is also available for Android and iOS this summer. From that moment BlackBerry users also chat with friends who have an iPhone or Android smartphone.

through this service

BlackBerry Messenger is a very popular service on the BlackBerry devices and has 60 million monthly active users. 51 million use the app even average 90 minutes per day. These figures may therefore continue to grow as well BBM (free) will be available on competing platforms. A danger for BlackBerry is that sales of BlackBerry devices decreases because you will soon also can buy an iPhone or Android device and still can. Use the service BBM is therefore no unique selling point (USP) more. Hence we Twitter comments like this come from people who have just bought the latest BlackBerry devices:

Comments BBM on Twitter

Android and iPhone users can via e-mail, SMS or scan QR code to add people to their contact list. Also, it is possible to exchange. Via NFC (on Android) contacts from Voice and video chat are not yet supported but as Apple and Google that allow, we can expect in the fall as BlackBerry. Does support BBM on Android and iOS chatting with several people, sharing photos and sending voice messages. The app will at least work on iOS6 and Android 4.0 or higher.

BlackBerry Live 2013: BlackBerry change course - Hardware.Info

Hardware.Info attended BlackBerry Live 2013 in Orlando last week. Traditionally announced new products and services here. We do report them here. Blackberry announced not only a new, lower positioned smartphones running on BlackBerry 10 OS, but also did in other areas interesting announcements.

There were quite a few things leaked about the new, cheaper smartphone BlackBerry was going to launch, but now it’s official: the Q5 now officially belongs to the portfolio of BlackBerry. So he does not get the designation R10 and could be used as a half Q10, a hands-on which we published some time ago.

somewhat considered disrespectful

Compared with the ‘bigger’ brother, the Q5 looks less refined. Furthermore, the SoC just a little different. It is still one of Qualcomm with two Krait-cores, but which are clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1.5 GHz, instead of, as is the case with the top models. Furthermore, the camera resolution reduced from 8 to 5 MP and has standard 8 instead of 16 GB storage capacity. However, the most striking difference with the Q10 is the screen. Where a copy at the Q10 is the Super AMOLED type, does the Q5 with an IPS panel. The diagonal and resolution are the same.

In the short time that we have in our hands it stood, the Q5 we have not really been able to convince. The keys feel nowhere near as nice as that of the Q10 and the camera is not particularly good. Whether this is a really interesting device is for those who love a physical keyboard, of course, will in large part depend on the price. Which is not yet known at this time. He comes in ‘selected markets’ (or at least in Europe) and will be available from early July.

Below you can see the specifications of the BlackBerry Q5 and some pictures. The device will be available in black, white, red and pink. The pink variant were at this time, however, no copies available. Hence that is not listed.
