Blackberry returns to what it does best: devices with keypads. But not for us.
Blackberry trying to survive by now to focus on smartphones with built-in keypads. Last year the focus was still on models with touch screens only. But Blackberry’s interim CEO John Chen now says the company is working on a “reintroduction” of the physical keyboard smartphones.
The market for these devices is a niche. But especially among business customers would physical QWERTY keyboards are still relatively popular. And that is precisely the group that Blackberry is now only targeting. The Canadian company pulls back because of the consumer market, and later serves companies in particular. The new keypad phones are no longer for you and me.
Last yearBlackberry came with the Q5 and Q10 with built-in QWERTY keypad. But the company had high hopes for its devices with touch screens, such as the Z10 and Z30, all using the new BB10 system. But the sales of these touchscreen handsets were disappointing.
last week complained Blackberry still the creator of the new iPhone case Typo on. With Typo you can add a physical keyboard for your iPhone, but the design looks a lot like that of Blackberry’s keyboards. Blackberry do not worry, it turned out the first tests with the Typo-case this week. Because according to bloggers who typed dabs not nearly as good as BlackBerry Bolds of yore.
Personally I miss the qwerty keys not in smartphones. Can you?
