Are you a former BlackBerry user? If yes, then you have probably heard of BeWeather, an immensely popular weerapp among BlackBerry users. The app got even more attention during the ’25 Days of Gifts’, BlackBerry’s version of the iTunes 12 Days-gifts. BeWeather for BlackBerry is already at version 10.0, but iOS is the adventure begin: this weerapp is now also appeared on the iPhone. The icon does not bode well: the umbrella reminiscent of apps from the period 2009-2010. But once you open BeWeather
BeWeather lets you immediately after installing the app choose three themes: a selection of fine weather pictures, animated HD videos with current weather data and a radar image. I chose the former and got a Windows XP-like meadow as background pictures. Bottom of the screen you can see the location and temperature plus small buttons for warnings, weather radar and more.
Advantage of BeWeather is that the temperature is displayed in degrees Celsius, and the time on a 24-hour clock, which I did not expect. (in slightly skeptical BlackBerry vote) immediately Cooperation with DarkSky and Weather Underground aroused in me the idea that the app would be oriented. Especially American Two other features that pleasantly surprised me were Instaweather-like function and a list of webcams. Bottom left of the main screen you will find a share button that lets you share a photo. Temperature, weather description and location You can change the default generated photo replaced with your own photo. The location text can also be replaced with your own text. Then send your homemade ‘Instaweather plate’ to Twitter, Facebook or any other social network.
The webcam feature is useful if you want to have on the local weather conditions. visibility Through a menu button top left to add additional cities, for example Tokyo and Los Angeles. Have you heard that the violent storms in Los Angeles, it’s sometimes hard to get it to form an image. At Fanning the admirably and palm trees snapped? Or do people just a little more effort to keep their SUVs on the road The Webcam option shows a mosaic of public webcams around the chosen city, so you can see which webcam is right gives an impression of the actual weather situation.
fastBeWeather can add locations via the side menu, and you can at any time switch from static images to animations or radar images. You get free access to the current weather situation and Buienradar-like card, sunrise and sunset times and a 7-day forecast. For € 2.69 you upgrade to the Pro version, which gives you access to predictions of rain per minute (not interesting, because only works in U.S. and UK), storm and hurricane warnings, weather info on your lockscreen, notifications and more. In the free version you can set only two locations in the Pro version is the unlimited number of locations.
compared with Yahoo Weather is quickly made. The Yahoo app shows some free information (such as additional weather information on the opening screen), where you at BeWeather must pay. I also have the impression that Yahoo Weather something more stylish pictures shows, which are more suited to the location itself. In Tokyo, I had seen, for example, while the webcams show that the sun is not even among. Dark sky Yahoo also let me in Amsterdam a local picture of the Royal Palace to see while I get into a BeWeather (Scottish?) To see grassland, again in Windows XP style. The photos appear in BeWeather also some paler:
left the main Yahoo Weather local picture, the right main BeWeather with arbitrarily small landscape.
Weather forecast BeWeather looks remarkably the same as that of Yahoo Weather: temperatures and icons per hour, below a list of expectations for the next few days. Also with icons, minimum and maximum temperatures. The data are exactly the same and that is no coincidence, because the data for both apps is provided by Weather Underground. For the accuracy of the predictions, you do not have to do it, both apps provide the same information and present it in a similar way. BeWeather look forward 7 days, Yahoo Weather looks 10 days ahead, and additionally has itself little wind, barometric pressure and moon phases.
Does the iPhone a popular BlackBerry weerapp need? Yes and no. The main reason you want to install the app, is that nice clear webcams down so you can see how the weather situation. Firsthand But BeWeather will bring no shock waves in the range of weather apps, like Yahoo Weather has done. The app is very late in the move to iOS and for us as inveterate iOS users actually adds little.
