BlackBerry considering to house in a separate subsidiary, BBM, the messaging activities, reports the Wall Street Journal based on people familiar with the plans. The message service is enhanced with features such as video chat and BBM Channels: a Twitter-like service, intended for interaction of people and companies with their followers. BB wants BBM also suitable for other platforms, including Android, iPhone and possibly also on desktops. Many of these plans would be some time on the shelf. BlackBerry would compete with platform-independent services like Twitter and WhatsApp. BBM has some 60 million users, but the number decreases as the declining market share of BlackBerry.
